I just believe you need a few years of a driving experience before you should be allowed to use a self-driving car. If for whatever reason the cpu goes down, you need to be able to take over.

Good thinking. It will need a driving app to teach you to drive and take control if there is a problem. "Please place your hands at ten and two. No texting and driving please. Please slow down. You are approaching a busy intersection. What is that you are smoking? Would you like me to drive now?"

They could be good for reducing road rage by taking human egos out of the situation, but still I don't think I would be comfortable trusting a computer and taking human decisions out of the loop. Makes me think of terminator.
