Reality TV.....Totally pointless or Absolutely Brilliant???

SOme people might answer before hearing me out and that is quite alright....However, I hope you Still read this lil tidbit of my opinion on the subject! I am addicted to watching reality TV. Probably in some ways for the obvious reasons....the drama, the curiosity, the humor. But more importantly I have come to realize after being a "Real World" view since the first season....Reality TV has given the gen pub a microphone and has made HUGE changes for our society. I mean think about it......Do you all remember Pedro in the 90's. He was the first gay man to publicly display his love for his boyfriend, get married to him and even speak out about being HIV positive. He also passed away not too long after that season aired. It opened the doors for so many people to come out, be proud and stand up for who they are!

I definately don't think people should be paying Jersey Shore's "The Situation" hundreds of thousands of dollars for showing his abs off. But Reality TV has opened so many doors for people. Bethenny Frankel on Real Housewives of NY....one cutsie name she rattled off in an episode for her low cal cocktail ended up being a multi-million dollar idea! It changed her life and provided a REAL clever product!

Artists, singers, dancers.....people from all over the world have been discovered because of Reality TV....Move over Hollywood....The Gen Pub's got somethin to share too!!!!
