Public Opinion Says Coke Should Be Legal, But Just Barely!

After a woman died of a condition possibly aggravated by drinking up to two gallons of Coca Cola per day, we asked whether people thought Coke should be legal or not.

51% of you said it should be legal. 32% said Coke should not be legal, and 17% were undecided.

About 50% of parents say yes to the addictive sugary drink, as do the well educated.

Religious people are split on whether Coke should be legal or not, as are conservatives.

By state, the most votes in favor of criminalizing Coke are from Texas and New York.

People drink themselves to death constantly. It is horrible but people need to be free to so that. The real issue is eliminating the crime from drugs which is causing much worse problems than legalization would.

coke should be legal everything's OK in moderation and if coke weren't legal what would I drink on my way to the rodeo's water well let's just say water doesn't taste near as good unless I'm dehydrated

Got to be one of the most stupid polls ever. Do we really want to have food police? What's next, some busybody ringing your doorbell and demanding to look inside your Frig and see if you have Broccoli and 1% Milk and run off with your jar of Mayonnaise?

Nobody ever got in a car and ran over somebody because they had a coke with their burger and fries. Yet tens of thouands every year die from drunk drivers and booze is perfectly legal.

I don't do soda pop. I thought this was a poll about the illegal substance.
Looking at the results it seems that there are the same amount of people who want to legalize coke as there are those who want to criminalize Coke.
What a mixed up world!

yes, it does. I'm not a proponent of criminalizing a soft drink because of gluttony.
The poll results are strikingly similar to those regarding legalizing illicit drugs. Just saying...

One has always been able to drink Coca Cola in moderation. I can't advise criminalizing it because some fool drank it by the big bottle every single day.

But I still wouldn't advise drinking it anymore--and I concluded that before I heard about that sad case.

Triva fact... in the beginning over a hundred years ago when Coca Cola was only sold at the drug store and marketed as a "energy drink" it actually did contain trace amounts of Cocaine. For those that don't know, Cocaine comes from the Coca plant. Also a hundred years ago you could walk into any drug store and buy Cocaine legally, along with other stuff that is now illegal.
