PUBLIC OPINION > Puppies Are Way Cuter Than Ryan Gosling

SodaHead Fun 2011/11/07 19:11:56
Ever since Ryan Gosling took his dog George on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" in July, people have been asking one of the most pertinent questions of out time: Is Ryan Gosling cuter than a puppy? Actually, most of the asking has come from a Tumblr site founded in October, aptly titled "Is Ryan Gosling Cuter Than a Puppy?"

Unfortunately, the site does not offer an answer to the question it poses, so the idea lingers. That's why we decided to find a definitive answer to the question, once-and-for-all -- and now we have one.

Who's Cuter: Ryan Gosling or a Puppy?

Puppies Are WAY Cuter Than Ryan Gosling

We heard rumors that Gosling is turning into "the next George Clooney," whatever that means, but let no one suggest from this point forward that Ryan Thomas Gosling is even remotely cuter than a puppy. And let it be known that our question did not specify any particular puppy. It is assumed Gosling is henceforth less cute than any and all puppies, as decided by 74% of SodaHead voters. A job well done.

Men Reluctant to Answer

First, let's get the gender thing out of the way. Obviously, female voters are going to make up a majority of the votes Gosling did manage to get, but it's important to note that nearly three times as many women voted on the question (290 women to 130 men). Only 6% of men thought Ryan was cuter, but the female vote was almost exactly the same as the overall vote.

The Left Likes Gosling

Liberal votes gave Gosling a lot of support, for some reason -- 38% compared to 14% of conservatives. Maybe teaming up with George Clooney for "The Ides of March" gave him some credibility on the left. Maybe conservatives just love puppies.

Gosling Gets Better With Beer Goggles

There's no way for us to determine whether or not voters were consuming alcohol when they voted, but drinkers were 5% more likely to fall for Gosling than nondrinkers, leading us to believe alcohol is a prime source of puppy under-appreciation. (Somebody inform Sarah McLaughlin.)
