BH1701 "In Kirk We Trust" 2009/07/08 03:46:23prochoice+5Actually, it would be more appropriate to make the answers "pro-choice" or "anti-choice." Being "pro-choice" does not make you "anti-life."

make abortions illegal and women die trying to get them. i dont like them but under certain conditions i would get them. mainly if medically necessary or due to rape or incest.
i am currently on coumadin and if i were to get pregnant in the next 6 months my baby would have birth defects so i would have to decide weather or not to go through with the pregnancy.
i think abortion should only be considered in extreme circumstances.
it's not that im anti-choice either- you had the choice to not protect yourself and risk getting pregnant, you should be prepared to live with the consequences
I'd like to see more effort put forth by the pro-life crowd towards the actual *quality* of life *after* the precious miracle is born. Too often these groups fight to strip the choice from the mother, then fight to strip any assistance she may need.
I am pro-life, in a sense, but my political stance in support of life is not, in essence, anti-choice. Really, I think that setting up the issue as pro-life v. pro-choice is damaging.
don't worry about that.
Now, if it were me, I'd have the baby and then give it up to adoption (dont start fighting with me about this, I wont reply), but I think people should decide whether to abort or not.
I personally feel that the CHOICE on whether or not to have a child should come before you conceive. But in some cases that choice is taken away from the woman, for example in cases of incest or rape. In those cases abortion should clearly be an option. Then there are cases where a woman has made a choice to have a child and is pregnant but finds that the child will kill her or end up dying shortly after birth... is it fair to force the woman to carry the child full term if it will cost her her life, or her fertility, or her sanity of watching her newborn die?
I couldn't think of a circumstance where I would choose abortion. Not even to save my own life. But my religious beliefs comfort me in that situation. I can be reunited with my family one day. If I have a child who dies shortly after birth or has a terrible malady or deformity, I believe that this spirit was sent only to receive a body, and didn't need to be tested. What a special spirit! What an honor to be the mother of such a special child! How could I deny the plan of salvation to a spirit of that magnitude?
But on the other hand, I believe that God has given all human beings the right to choose for themselves. I cannot impose my persona...

So I suppose I personally am Pro-life, but I believe in choice for all other women to make that decision for themselves.
