Paint-splatter tattoos look pretty as art, but I still don't like the idea of tattooing one's body.

Amanda Wachob has been making "conceptual," "modern," and "abstract" tattoos (like this one) for the past 13 years, and is currently accepting appointments at Dare Devil Tattoo in New York City. Her hourly rate is $300 , with a one-hour minimum.

I haven't seen people with these types of tattoos. I've put together a little "paint-splatter tattoo" slideshow so people can get a better sense of what the tattoos looks like.

Tattoos look great when they first get cut into the skin, but then they fade, moods change, fashion changes, and then the tattoos don't look so great anymore.

Justin Bieber Jewish TattooThe Bible also specifically bans the ritual of tattoos:
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. (Leviticus 19:28)

Jews can do lots of things banned by the Torah and still get buried in a Jewish cemetery. But a Jewish cemetery will not bury Jews with tattoos. Even Jewish looking tattoos.

(Justin Bieber pictured with a tattoo of the word "Jesus" in Hebrew letters.)

I am an elementary school teacher. Sometimes I look like that on Friday because doing art with children will cause such things to happen.

But I wouldn’t get any tattoos. Being repeatedly stabbed (or maybe scratched? I don't know how they are done) with a needle dose not appeal to me.

It's cute but tattoos look horrible when you get older and people with tattoos that aren't from their heritage just look bad to me.

No, I wouldn't get one of these. Besides prices for tattoos are high enough. $300 an hour? No way!!

Only if they were coloring something in though... I personally wouldn't get one. I'm only getting tattoos that mean something special to me. Not what's fashionable, not a decision based off my moods (one that is based off my long standing beliefs, one that I have taken years to think about), and if you take care of a tattoo they really don't fade.

    Watercolor tattoos are prettier, anyway...

standing beliefs years care tattoo fade watercolor tattoos prettier tattoos watercolor

They have no meaning at all. If you're going to get a tattoo, get it as something that truly means something to you.

It's different. Something besides the typical skulls, tigers, dragons, etc. I don't know if I could do it though.

Lowering your potential income by 1/3 so you can look like a moron is well moronic. What pisses me off though is with Obama care those of us who work will soon be paying to have these removed from people so they can have a hope at getting a good paying job they will most likely never get.

I'm really not a tattoo person, however, a small tat in good taste is sometimes attractive, i.e. a rose on the ankle. I don't like decomposed body parts (skulls) or massive tats that cover much of the exposed areas of the body.

I wonder what these young girls with the fancy tattoos will look like after they have put on a few years and 40 pounds? Those tattoos will look pretty strange on a 60 year old fat grandmother!
Also that comment about Jews not being allowed to be buried in a Jewish cemetery? Do you think this might apply to Jews tattooed by the Nazi's during the WWII period! I think this might be something not thought out too clearly!

I'm all for free expression and all that, but I can't help but wonder how all these tats that kids are getting now will look in 20 or 30+ years are going to look. I think there will be many regrets down the road. Looks cool at 20, not so great at 60 when the skin gets loose and saggy!

years regrets road cool 20 60 skin loose saggy saggy skin tatoos

I love these - and, quite frankly, it is quite a refreshing change seeing a tattoo that isn't a butterfly, a dragon, a tiger, or a woman's silhouette.

I'm pretty sure it is permanent. It's not an actual paint splatter, just made to look like one.
  • TikkiPurdy Sophia ... 2011/06/23 15:40:34

yeah, but the ink is different

It is permanent! But can be done with "disappearing" ink! But that cost more!!!
  • Grammar... Ron 2014/07/11 16:10:19

If I could afford it, I'd tattoo my entire body with disappearing ink.
I love how tattoos feel, but I have to be professional or I won't eat.

Oh, is it? I guess I would need to do some research to find that information, because I don't see it here. I assumed it was the same as any other tattoo.

Great form of expression. If its painted on. Keeping this for life is kinda ridiculous. I have tattoos but they carry meaning and unfortunately this is abstract paint blobs lol. it may carry meaning but I just cant see any logic in permanently making your arm look like a 4 year old with finger paint.
