One Billion

Link 2012/04/30 00:23:52

The next time you hear a
politician use the
Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
whether
you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.

A billion is a
difficult number to comprehend,
But one advertising agency did a good job
of
Putting that figure into some perspective in
One of its
releases.

A.

A billion seconds ago it was
1959.

B.

A billion minutes ago Jesus was
alive.

C.

A billion hours ago our ancestors
were
living in the Stone Age.

D.

A billion days ago no-one walked on
the earth on two feet.

E.
A billion dollars ago was
only
8 hours and 20 minutes,
at the rate our government
is spending
it.

While
this thought is still fresh in our brain...
let's take a look at New Orleans
...
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple
division.

Louisiana Senator,
Mary
Landrieu (D)
was asking Congress for

250
BILLION DOLLARS
To
rebuild New Orleans . Interesting
number...
What does it mean?

A.

Well .. If you are one of the 484,674
residents of New Orleans
(every man, woman and child)
You
eachget
$516,528

B.

Or... If you have one of the 188,251
homes in
New Orleans , your home gets
$1,329,787.

C.

Or... If you are a family of
four...
Your family gets
$2,066,012.

Washington ,
D.C

You have a link to the analysis of this? Or something official about this?

Nope! It's just a post I was sent from elsewhere... but enough of it makes sense that it really doesn't need n analysis... numbers by not be exact, but close enough to get the point....

I understand some need cold hard analytical figures, but sometimes, it's annoying when, like in this case, the idea is all that's important, not the trivial numbers...

Do you at least get the gyst of the post and is the idea it conveys enough? Don't nit pick the post... just get the basis...

Nope, it's not very accurate and it's basically rhetoric. How about the fact that David Vitter (a republican) co-sponsored the "Hurricane Katrina Recovery Package".

    Why is that left out?

I didn't write it, just posted it...

and the basic idea is the spending of so much money... and putting the "billion" into perspective... and how many different taxes we pay... a tax for this and a tax for that and a tax for the other...

So, forget the specifics and don't look quite so deep into it and get the basic idea of the post...

Next thing you know, they'll tax married intercourse. They can find more ridiculous things to tax; they must pay someone to come up with these silly things.
