We rotate every year, had a star last year, so angel this year! The star I got when I was a kid and my grandpa was stationed in Hondurus. He brought it back to me from there and is made of colored shells.
It's a tacky plastic one with lights in it. We got it when my kids were small. Now the youngest is 35 and has a wife of his own. That star will be there for a long time.
This year we have a Santa - we couldn't get the Angel to stay on top - each time placed it started leaning and tipped over. Time for a new Angel - unfortunately we ended up with a Santa.
Normally, I would go up to my attic and bring down my Stored Christmas Tree, put it up and put a collection of hand-made ornaments on it (and I do have a star I've had for decades and decades) ...
But this year .. I won't be putting up a tree, and I may just end up putting netlights on the bushes outside my home. (the reason is .. I ended up in Emergency Surgery and now am partially Blind).
I think it is more important now to learn how to navigate through the basic life needs as a Blind Person and concentrate on that .. so that I don't become a burden on anyone around me!
I have had it since I celebrated my first Christmas as an adult on my own... it will be 20 years old this Christmas. One year though a friend gave me a cute thing that I put on my tree...
It was an elf with a surprised look on his face... it looked like someone had shoved the tree up his... well... you get the idea...
It was stolen the following spring from my storage.... It was the cutest thing even if it really didn't 'fit' the season...

Joking, but I don't have a Christmas tree set up at the moment, but usually it's a star.
It's also covered with apples and snowflakes.

Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? She must be so proud of you...
The top of my tree has this, of course!
