Old Marine

Semper Fi 2012/08/17 16:11:07
One sunny day in January, 2013, an old retired Marine man approached
the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue where he'd been
sitting on a park bench.

He spoke to the U.S. Marine standing guard and said, "I would like to
go in and meet with President Obama."

The Marine looked at the man and said, "Sir, Mr. Obama is no longer
President and no longer resides here."
The old man said, "Okay," and walked away.

The following day the same man approached the White House and said to
the same Marine, "I would like to go in and meet with President
Obama."

The Marine again told the man, "Sir, as I said yesterday, Mr. Obama
is no longer President and no longer resides here."

The man thanked him and again just walked away.
The third day the same man approached the White House and spoke to
the very same U.S. Marine, saying, "I would like to go in and meet
with President Obama.

"The Marine, understandably agitated at this point, looked at the man
and said, "Sir, this is the third day in a row you have been here
asking to speak to Mr. Obama.

I've told you already that Mr. Obama is no longer the President and
no longer resides here.
Don't you understand?"

The old man looked at the Marine and said, "Oh, I understand.
I just love hearing it."

The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and said, "See you
tomorrow, Sir.

Don't forget to vote

That retired Marine is depending on you!!! - SEMPER FI!

Loan commercials? I must watch different kinds of tv because I don't see that.. I see stupid ones that try to be funny but aren't..
We don't have to do that either. Everyone knows that's their job- to get us to buy things that are bad for a profit to them. If you buy into it, then that's a shame.. :-1
I have to go work now though~

Sick enough to talk high school kids out of joining the service , we had people camp out and watch the recruiters and talk to them when they were leaving . Many we talked of serving . We brought amputee veterans and those with brain injury to speak at some schools that would let us in .Overall our campaign kept about half the kids we talked out of the service .

isnt it great to live in a country that you feel no need to defend? And also convince others to act the same way?

"soldiers often get to see foriegn countries and see things they will never experience at home " A neighbors son came home from Iraq he always liked me and would tell me things he would not tell his parents . He told me he and others in his outfit shot women and children by mistake , he started to drink heavily and was killed when he hit a telephone pole in his car . Before he was killed he told me he would never feel the same as he did before he went to Iraq .I tried to convince him not to join the Marine corps but he wanted to become a man and thats what he felt would make him a man .

Don't forget they are still insulting and rewriting a certain two-term President in the 80's who brought us out of a "malaise".

And then that same marine is going to be wondering where his and other the other veterans benefits went. Oh yeah, they've all been cut because republicans talk a good game, but when it comes to action, they suck.

the dems have already cut medicare and created 20 brand spanking new taxes. And it is the LAW created voted on and approved by the supreme court. The dems have already cut new defense projects cut the size of the military and are going to cut it again. So exactly who is going to do what? The cuts of medicare and the new taxes are a done deal. yay dems.

That's fine, live in your own little world without really knowing what you're talking about. Medicare was not cut. The way doctors hospitals and clinics are reimbursed is changed to prevent waste. In fact, the recipient of medicare does not lose any benefits; rather, he or she actually gets more out of the program as a result of the overhaul. As to this notion of 20 new taxes, I have no idea what your talking about. The fact of the matter is that taxes are at their lowest levels in decades. If anything, you, I and most everyone else in the country have received nothing but tax cuts since 2009. Cuts to the DOD are to eliminate waste like getting rid of programs that waste money. Besides, those cuts are little more than a drop in the bucket compared to the actual size of the military's budget. I know it doesn't matter what I write to you or what evidence you have before you, but historically speaking, Republicans have a way of paying lip service to the military and veterans, but when it comes time to actually honor their service and their provide them with benefits and support, they are always conspicuously absent (not all of them mind you, but many). When Se. Chambliss ran for his seat, his opponent was an honest to God war hero injured and paralyzed as a result of his servic...

When Se. Chambliss ran for his seat, his opponent was an honest to God war hero injured and paralyzed as a result of his service, and what did Chambliss do? He denigrated that service and the man. What has Rep. Walsh done to his opponent in Illinois this year? He has denigrated her and her service. Historically speaking, it is the Republicans who have been against legislation that rewards our service members with sufficient benefits because, as they argue, we can't afford it.

I don't know about you, but I would prefer real support over lip service any day. Who needs a parade when one is suffering. Who needs a 7 billion dollar boondoggle fighter jet program when our vets don't even get the necessary psychiatric medical care?

700 billion from medicare isnt a cut? read the new healthcare law that is loved so much by the left but havent bothered to read. The law is the law now that it is in effect just maybe you should read it
  • Kevin izzybean 2012/08/20 15:25:37 (edited)

It's not a cut period. Yes, you should read the law.. It does exactly what I says it does. It controls waste by changing the way medical centers and professionals are reimbursed; it does not cut benefits but in fact increases them. I don't know why that is so hard to understand.

Unfortunately it is you who has little clue as to what he's talking about. Thus, you have blocked me.

Here read this if you dare you ignorant piece of sh*t:
"The Affordable Care Act will save approximately $500 billion over the next ten years through reduction in extra subsidies paid to Medicare Advantage plans, reductions in the rate of growth in provider payments, and efforts to make the Medicare program more efficient and to reduce waste, fraud and abuse. These reductions will lead to corresponding savings for beneficiaries through lower copayments and premiums. A slower rate of growth in Medicare is expected to result in a slower rate of growth in beneficiary out-of-pocket payments, and a slower rate of growth in Part B premiums. In addition, the closing of the donut hole will result in large savings for beneficiaries with high levels of prescription drug spending."

Jesus, the evidence against your argument is right there and you can't even acknowledge that you're wrong. Moron!
