Offer someone a refreshment...

And they reply, "maybe later." What does that mean exactly? Do you take their reply on face value and offer them something later, or do you take it as a "no."

+1Thanks for commenting. A straight shooter! No guess work involved.

Do you typically offer them something again later?reply - Jerry (... HiYa 2012/04/27 00:19:46
+2If the person is there long enough that I think he or she is thirsty, yes.reply -
Good host Jerry! There with food & drink, whenever they need it.

+1And the food is good.reply - Shawna 2012/04/26 23:49:46Undecided+1It's a bit rude. "No thank you", is the best answer. If the person is an overnight guest in my home I would probably say, "okay, just help yourself when you want something". If they were only there for a couple of hours I would assume it was a way of saying no. However it sort of implies that they plan on staying for a long time-LOLreply

+1I agree, it's certainly not the best response. I think some ppl. feel they're offending you to just say "no." I know ppl. who have remarked that they're being anti-social if they refuse someone's hospitality.reply - Shawna HiYa 2012/04/26 23:55:00
+1Yes, I think that is probably the intention behind the answer. It's an appropriate answer if they are going to be there for a long time, but a bit weird if it is just a short visit.reply - Dandydon 2012/04/26 23:47:00It means, "not now, but maybe later."+2I take it as,if they want it later, they can get it their self,later..reply
