Yes, but the people there were mean, nasty, and belligerent. They act like sharks in a feeding frenzy whenever you get on the subway or go to the store, and I don't want to get stampeded when I go shopping.
I lived there for a year-and-a-half and I dreaded it. The kids and adults there were hostile and pretentious. Those accents annoyed the hell out of me, and made it that much worse. The city is filthy, and congested like a rat's cage. That's one of the reasons I like Chicago-style pizza a lot better. I also lived in Chicago. That city is much cleaner, and the people there are about 1000 times nicer.
