New Jersey is the best state ever...?

No, taxes are too high But worst of all THEY WON"T GET OUT OF THE PASSING LANE AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!. Even the trucks!!, They just flat out refuse to yield.

That's good you love your state. I've never been there. I had a nephew that lived there and he hated it.

LOL, people who say 'no' likely haven't lived here. Yes, we have our faults, but being this close to so many major metropolitan areas, having one of the strictest laws governing beach cleanliness, having some seriously gorgeous forests and parks... it's nice. I'll deal with the "Jersey Shore" jerks, and I'll deal with the traffic just to be where I'm at. I'll even deal with the taxes.

But why put yourself through all that everyday

If you haven't lived here, you'll never understand. I grew up in NJ. I've been to its forests, to its pine barrens, to its shores (not just seaside). I've been to its race tracks, its farms, its parks. I've been to its mines and quarries. And I'm only an hour and a half from NYC, and forty minutes from philly. I'm an hour and fifteen from atlantic city. I'm three hours from baltimore, and four from DC. Five from Boston.

For all of that? Plus the best tomatoes in the world, and some of the sweetest sweet corn you'll ever taste in the summer? It's more than worth it.

Plus, we get all of the weather from the world, just in miniature. Heat waves without weeks of 90 degrees (usually just a few days). Blizzards, but not enough to bury a house. Hurricanes, but not strong enough to flatten the land. Tornadoes, but not enough to decimate a city. Earthquakes but not strong enough to topple buildings in seconds. We get gorgeous autumns, cold winters (usually), and hot summers. Our springs are as pretty as anywhere else in the world. I'm only two hours from the Amish, as well - where I can get homemade jams, jellies and butters as well as quilts and the like.

It's far nicer than most people give it credit for.

Even back in the fifties I didn't like The Wildwoods. I havent stayed there since the late sixties.

It was good back in the 90s but when I went back a few years ago it really went downhill =/

I haven't vacationed at the Jersey shore since the early eighties. Then I went to Avalon and Sea Isle City. My mom lived in North Cape May from 1982 until she died last year. I would not go there between Memorial Day and Labor Day. I haven't been back at all

No. I live very close to New Jersey. It has a few good things going for it, but not much.

I did not enjoy myself much in my short time there, but across the Hudson in New York is another story.

I haven't heard one good thing about that state.
