I do think that there is some truth to the myth. I have always been considerably heavier when compared the average person with my height. I'm not fat unless you consider having a 32 inch waist fat, but at 5'7" I weigh in at 210 lbs. When I was in the Army I was always taped because I never fell within height and weight standards. The average male of my height would come in at around 150 lbs. The funny thing is that I don't look like I weight that much. Most people think I weigh 30 pounds less. This became really apparent when I competed in a powerlifting tournament. The guys in my weight class were all over 6 feet tall and looked to be twice my size, while the guys who looked like me were competing a lower weight class. I'm also about twice as strong as the average guy.
I don't really lift weights the last time I did I bench pressed 540 lbs and leg press 1820 lbs and I think I could have done more but there was no more room on the racks.
