Ok, here it goes, your friend (and you) are young. It is normal to feel insecure, as everyone feels that way, not matter the age or gender. Some people hide the way they feel, others hide themselves. The thing is that we all have to learn to like ourselves. That's it. She has to learn that she is beautiful, period. No one is perfect (gosh I hate how worn out this sounds). But it is true, everyone feels like they have something 'wrong' with them. Some might think they are too fat, some might think that they are too thin, some have an odd nose, some have bigger feet. Some think they are too tall, some think that they are very short. But most people accept it. You are who you are. And if you don't love yourself for the wonderful person that you are, you can not expect for others to love you. It all starts with yourself. So tell your friend, that she is a beautiful young girl, and she is going to have to accept it at some point. Better sooner than later. ;)
