My friends family reunion is next week... His father wants me to go, but His mother does not. Should I attend or no?

me personally I tend to avoid things like that, but then again I avoid family functions as much as possible anyhow. But go with what your instincts tell you

Most families and groups are patriarchal, so unless the dynamic is that his father and mother are equal or the mother is stronger in the family dynamic, her opinion does not matter since she will ultimately defer to her husband or just be a complete bitch the entire time you are there.

Sounds like it could be awkward if his mom doesn't like you but how else is she going to get to know you better? The ultamate decision is yours but I might try to avoid this potentally bad situation.

I did go, It was kinda fun. But I felt out of place. I hung out with his father and his cousin the entire time.. I have met his ousin oncce before so it wasn't to awkward so I was with him whenever his father was busy. But i had fun till the drive home alone with his mother -.- haha

Gee thats hard .The air would be uncomfortably thick.You may feel awarkard when hes busy doing something that may take up some time.Take another friend along may help.
