Both are good but Gershwin really kicked off the Jazz boom, whih influence the rock & roll era's early years, which influenced pop music of the 80's, and inflences film scores to this very moment. So Gershwin wins even though I personally like U2 better.

Gershwin was a musical genius, and captured the essence of America during his day. His use of jazz motifs was also very cool, as in this masterpiece.
