I don't judge women by their beauty. Beauty is just one of many factors that goes into making an initial impression of any person - male or female.

It's an attention grabber for sure. it's the action of the instinctive brain, to deny it is an attempt in fooling ones self.

    Women do it too

for the most part, "physically beauty" usually is the wrapping paper of the shallow.

Hard not to sometimes, but beauty is never moreimportant than the person - I love Jack Nicolson's line to Michelle Pfeiffer in wolf about her beauty - it is a pretty good flick if you have never seen it

Intelligence, great sense of humour and creativity beat out "beauty" every time. Physical beauty (as opposed to true beauty, which goes deeper than the physical) is irrelevant. The way someone looks has no bearing on whether or not I want to get to know them any better. Nor do I see why it should.

First impressions are often founded on physical attributes, however Familiarity often breeds contempt when the internal being is dissonant with the outer chell.

Look, this is the way our brains are hardwired. People don't realize it but the media has set up or specific gender roles since we were toddlers
Example: What does Cinderella teach us?
As long as your really attractive you can overcome your horrible life!!
In certain parts of Africa, overweight women are very attractive, because the fact they're fat means their wealthy, but in other parts of the world it is seen as unhealthy and therefore unattractive.
In short, yes I am very shallow

No, I love women who are smart, know how to respect others, and respect themselves. I love women who are kind and who like to express their feelings; but at the same time I love them to be strong. Not physically, but women who can take on anyone and anything, no matter the consequences.

Personality and physical beauty are equal to me.
If I'm not physically attracted then physical interaction won't be enjoyable for either of us
If I think you're an idiot, then physical interaction won't be enjoyable for me if you open your mouth.

Not that I dont notice a womans physical attractiveness the instant I see her or anything, I just dont judge her as a person on it. Her attractiveness is not equated with her ontological worth with me. I also find that someone you at first thought was gorgeous can look really nasty to you if she turns out to be a horrible person and vice versa

I think so. It's human nature to be immediately attracted to what our eyes deem as good looks but that can crumble within moments of that person opening their mouth or by their behavior. Looks aren't everything, but they are a nice added bonus. However, we each have our own definition of what we consider good looks and that can surely change by being around someone who we didn't think attractive in the beginning, by their personality captivating us to the point we find them to then be irresistible. :-)

It may be a bit different for women. I watched a study (science channel) that had men and women look at pictures. Men were shown penciled drawings of different figures (not even heads or arms), and were asked which was more attractive. A large majority picked the same drawing. They said it had something to do with the mathmatic ratio of the figure. Women were shown 5 photos of men doing different things (posing with no shirt, cleaning, holding a baby etc) and were asked which man was more attractive. A large majority of women picked the man holding the baby. Very few women noticed that it was the same man in every picture. I thought that was interesting. (I know, I watch too much tv).
