In our neck of the woods (quite literally) it could be fleas or even ticks. There are possums and deer, dogs, cats and '.coons and who knows what?

Fleas is the phrase I have always heard.

"Lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas."

But, I imagine, in real life or literally, you get plenty of love back since animals are always grateful and sweet.

Let's see ..
the old saying .. (as far as I remember it) is ..

"Lay down with dogs, you get FLEAS" ..

But if you keep up with your pet's needs .. (including Meds/Treatments) you won't have that problem ..

Now there's also another way of looking at this ..
which is more .. well .. cautionary ..
don't choose unwisely .. for that person which could be your spouse .. is a true LOUSE in every sense of the word.

BUT My good friend just got back from(Last month) vaction and caught FLEAS from the hotel!!! From the NICE hotel room!

Unconditional love from our beautiful and loving pets. Fleas are a hazzard, but if you keep your pet healthy and medicated, all you get is the love!

Fleas, metaphorically. Usually my dogs did not have fleas so I used to wake up with nothing.
