Eugene Foster wanted to embarrass his girlfriend's teenage daughter when he discovered a naked picture of her on her cell phone.
So to teach her a lesson he sent the image to all 38 of her contacts including school friends, say police in San Tan Valley, Arizona.
Foster, 31, is now in custody on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor.
He had a confrontation with the girl after discovering the full-frontal snapshot which she had taken.
Elias Johnson, a spokesman for the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, said: 'They got into a fight and [he] decides I’m going to teach you a lesson I’m going to send this out to 30 plus contacts on her phone and that’s what he did.
'You can’t distribute images like that, no one can, its illegal… there was nudity, clear full frontal picture.'
Detectives are now checking with all of the girl's contacts to ensure they have not forwarded it to anyone else.
Johnson told Myfox's Phoenix affiliate: 'Verify that yes they got it, A did they’d delete it, B is it still on the phone and C did you distribute that knowing what that was?
Texting images of minors is wrong no matter who you are, what your intentions are, you're going to be arrested. Its going to be as embarrassing as it is for Mr. Foster.'
The girl's school, Poston Butte, have sent out a letter to parents warning them pornography may have been sent to their children.
CBS 5 News spoke with a couple of students, and they said while everyone knew about the picture, they wanted to ignore the controversy.

Just a thought, as clearly, he was OUT of his mind when he sent it ;p
I think his intention was to show her what happens when you take nude pictures of yourself on your cellphone. If she were to turn that phone in and get a newer model (without properly deleting everything- pictures & information) or even let a "friend" use it, they could've distributed the pictures too. ANYONE using her phone could've did what he did.
But it was stupid what he did. Now he's going to get a label on him he will never be able to get off. He's also not the girls father, he had no right going through her cellphone or trying to discipline her. He should've showed her mother the phone and let her mother deal with her daughter.
I think he's a little perverted... why else would he want to humiliate her sexually?
