Madeleine McCann

Today (3rd May 2009) is the 2nd anniversary of the disappearance of little Madeleine McCann.

I know you've all probably seen this a thousand times, but thers no harm in putting it out there again, even if it is only to jog the memory of one more person and to remind everyone that this little girl is still missing.

I know it's long, but please watch the video (which includes the picture of what Madeleine might look like now at nearly 6 years old).

Why are you guys critisizing this so much? She deserves to be found, as do the rest of the children missing out there. I just don't understand why you guys are going off on these people just because they are trying to find their daughter...I bet all of you would do the same thing for your children

I don't get it...children go missing every day.
Why is this one so much more important than all the others?

shes not, her parents just did a better job of keeping her in the spotlight than other parents did

I think it's kind of sick that the media singles out cases like this.
Especially since the reason she went missing is that the parents left her alone.
If a poorer couple had done this the media wouldn't be sympathizing...they would be condemning.

It's so sad. After she went missing i checked the news every day to see if she'd been found hoping for good news. Those poor parents, they'll never get over losing her. And to not even know if she's alive or dead... they can't even grieve.

Mind you, the family is lucky that they've had so much international support and publicity, so many missing children don't get that.

Here we go again...more of the same little blond hair blue eyed girls missing.
The media LOVES their little blond hair girls kidnapped stories.

I believe the parents of this little girl have had enough time in the spot light, lets focus on other children.

If you feel like learning about other children missing, here's a link... . http://blackandmissing.blogsp...

i heard about that. there's also a documentry on Channel 4 in the UK on thursday that reconstructs the night she went missing and the days after it. 2 years, it's such a shame :(

Documentary? If that little girl was black, she wouldn't even make it in the newspaper...jesus christ.

i can't speak for the US because i've never been there, but in the UK, any child taken in the same circumstances would get the same media coverage. not everything boils down to race.

it is also down to the parents how much coverage their child gets. if the parents won't co-operate with the media etc. then they're obviously going to have less coverage.

the reason this story has had so much coverage is because it unusual for a foreign national to go missing and her parents are campaigning to get a US style 'Amber Alert' system implemented across europe. that would help ALL missing children. still think it's not worth the coverage??

Although I don't agree with the Big Brother mentality that's happening to you fine people in the UK , I think it's great that the media doesn't cater to race like they do here in the United States. Little black children are ignored by the major media. They focus on little children with blond hair and blue eyes. The local tv stations may do a story on a black child but you'll never see CNN or FOX News go into detail about black children.

it would be nice if Oprah focused on other little children too. That includes black children. Lets hope she didn't sell out too much.
