Are you willing and able to start checking all labels on products you buy/ purchase to make sure they are made in the USA and if they are NOT you'll put them back and continue looking around for made in the USA products whenever possible either by shopping at other stores that have MADE IN THE USA on their label or going online looking for "MADE IN THE USA" Products that you need ?

Another part of the game is to let the merchants know why you've decided not to buy the product you want and ask them to start selling "MADE IN AMERICA GOODS"

I agree that buying American, and especially locally made products is best and to be supported, but we shouldn't punish small businesses that provide quality foreign made products by rejecting them out of hand.

I own a small retail business. We sell handmade quilts. We carry foreign made quilts and, when we can get them, quality locally made quilts. The American made quilts are between 2 and 10 times the price of the foreign made quilts. Far and away most people who "refuse to by foreign" just walk away, not buying the American made quilts, but are upset that we don't carry more American made quilts. The result is that we sell maybe one American made quilt for every 100 foreign made quilts. How am I supposed to afford to stock more American made quilts? How does it help anyone to refuse to buy anything at all?

This is not as simple an issue as you make it out to be.

If we only sold American made products we'd be out of business in a month. How would that help anyone?

I do shop at Wal-Mart for things like Motor oil and some foods only because it's cheap. I'm sure Castrol GTX is still made in America. I will check tomorrow when I go for more oil

I have tried my best avoiding "made in China" products for my children, but that's mainly for health reasons. I will do better with my own purchases.

And have been my entire life. It's not as hard as the media would have you believe.

The important thing is to thank the companies that do make their product here and let the ones who don't know why you are not buying their product.

I buy from many of the Brick and Mortur stores as well. Mainly Sears and do look for the MADE IN USA label all the time .

If I don't find it I ASK for where they are keeping the MIU products.

I think Target and Walmart buy all that junk made in China --I've tried to tell them to buy only merchandise made in the USA --otherwise I'm wasting my time .

Mal-wart built their empire on "Made in America" now you cannot find product 1 in that store that is. I have not been in one of their stores since 1996.

Recently I went online to buy Flatware ( eating utensils ) from "LIBERTY" flatware because I could not find any flatware made in the USA in the stores . Then when I went to Target to buy Christmas Cards --they were all made in China --so I went elsewhere to find some made in the USA . Last year I went online to buy my bath towels and wash clothes that were made in the USA . Recently while staying at a Hotel in Vegas I noticed the bath towels/ wash clothes in the room were made in India . I sent the hotel an email explaining my displeasure over this act of not buying made in the USA products for their rooms --they apologised and said they would start buying made in the USA products. And gave me a voucher for 3 nights and 4 days at their hotel /casino free of charge to use within the next 18 months .
