I think they missed the '2 degree guarantee' (by about 700 degrees). Maybe the forecast was calculated by climate scientists.

You'd be freezing cold, if you were in the shade, on Mercury because it doesn't have a substantial atmosphere.
Even if you were on the night side (day is longer than year) on Venus, you'd still be reduced to charcoal briquettes because it has a dense (pressure almost same as being 3,000 feet underwater) atmosphere.

Actually, it is much hotter on Mercury. Venus has an average temp. of 855 to 867 degrees F.
