Depending on your internet provider, you can CALL them in case you have no connection, so...It's not so dumb, lol

It's a college. They run what is called INTRANET. It's basically an internal network that can share information similar to how the internet is set up. When they lose their internet connection, they are still connected to the university's network, thus still being able to use campus email and access whatever information is on the server(s). In your everyday home network, to fix this, you would simply unplug your router for 10 seconds and then plug it back in. But, with this complex setup, you can't just simply reset it. This is a job for the IT guy, or your campus's head computer nerd.

A lot of good examples but that one is the tops among them !

and some other ones, but that one was the funniest. Once there was a picture of a yellow sign with a wizard on it saying, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

Take a minute to contemplate the symbolic meanings of the logos at the bottom of the poster.

The bullhorn resembles a thumbs down. (thumbs down to protest or speaking out) The straight line halfway down the bullhorn seems to serve no other purpose than to create the impression of the end of a shirt sleeve. The microphone grill symbolizes fingers. The handle is kind of a strange shape, I think the reason is to make it look more like a thumb.

The Students Union logo symbolizes surveillance and disruption: The dot symbolizes the pupil of an eye, the head of a figure with it's hand on it's head, a figure in a house with half the roof missing, and the eye of a lizard / bird head.

That's like the ATT canned voice that tells you to report trouble with your connection at www.att.com or something like that. Idiots!

Kinda like the emails my college sends me reporting that the student emails are down and they will be back up shortly......

Yes, after they've fixed the student emails, like hours later. I guess they're really alerting us to the fact that we, as the students, can't log onto our email accounts for some reason. But we can't see the email unless we log in. They also send us emails telling us that everything is fixed. But we don't know unless we log in?

I guess if there was something wrong with the phones, they would leave messages on the voice mail telling everyone.

They are assuming you call in with a phone rather than report it by email on e-chat. Whoops, missed the email thing part, I suppose then they are assuming a person use someone's else access to report it. Otherwise that's just dumb, but it's not the worst. These things can be so funny because they are dumb.

I can't remember how many times have seen stuff on signs that don't make sense. I LOL everytime I see one...
One thing I do remember is on a packet of mixed nuts my dad bought one time, on the side it had a warning note; "Warning, may contain traces of peanuts and other tree nuts"

Saw a sign once in Minnesota. "Section 8 church." Ex or present service persons will understand.

Section 8

01: Any U.S. Armed Forces discharge based on military assessment of psychological unfitness or character traits deemed undesirable.

02: Any soldier given such a discharge or behaving as if deserving such a discharge.

03: Any person that's considered: anti-social, mentally-ill, a wrong number, a lunatic, a madman, a unstabled personality, a unstabled creature or a deranged person.
Section 8 as in what's going on in your head, not with you having Social and Rehabilitation Services paying the rent and et cetera, et cetera.

Seriously .. have seen too many where you really wonder about the signs ..
Called the power company to report an outage ..
they wanted you to do it online ..
(Hello -- power is out .. Servers are down .. no connection .. therefore can't report on-line!)

I called our IT. Told them that my computer is not starting ...
He told me to report this with the house internal message system to the IT data base ....
Really funny ...

I would bet on a college campus that 90% of the students have a smart phone and could send in a e-mail reporting the internet was down.
