You!

Oh. My. God. I saw this and facepalmed myself so bad, I think I left a mark on my forehead. This is no joke. I'm not the best speller in the world, but I'm certainly not as bad as this dummy. Are you good at spelling?

LMAO! I've seen that often here. The other one I see frequently is then when they mean than. Even people who should know better, such as people who list "teacher" as their profession don't bother to check their spelling or grammar before they post on here. And if the teachers can't do it, how can the kids know?

I was fortunate to be raised at a time when schools actually did some teaching. And my English teacher for the last three years of high school was an incredible human being. He ticked us all off, mind you, but he got the most letters of anybody from graduates thanking him for his teaching methods. And I admit I was one of those letter writers.

It pains me terribly to see how the English language is getting butchered with the texting, for one thing, although I understand the necessity on texting. But those who text, unfortunately, don't know the difference between how they write the text words and how they are supposed to be written. And our schools are graduating seniors left and right who can hardly read, period. This crap has got to stop.

People who claim to be good at spelling and grammar need to check their own work first. It is poor practice to start a sentance with "And".

The start of your second paragraph, "It pains me terribly to see how the English language is getting butchered with the texting, for one thing, although I understand the necessity on texting.", is exceptionally clumsy.

Oh, are we not the prim and prissy one. For your information, I write on this SH site in sort of a verbatim text format. It is intended to read as though you were hearing me speak. I am not sitting here with 3,000 questions in my inbox attempting to submit a thesis for my PhD or anything of that nature. I am spitting out words and ideas in response to common folks' questions and enjoying myself.

Additionally, I can start a sentence with "And" anytime I wish. Or any other conjunction I so choose. Again, this is a social networking site, not any competition for English Master.

And, yes, I do claim to be good at spelling and grammar, although occasionally I may miss something because I don't always take the time to proofread my typing. But, basically, I am fairly competent in conveying my thoughts on paper. And I do not sit so high on my pedestal that I look down on those who made boo-boo's when they are writing. In fact, many, many comments that I read on SH contain errors in spelling and grammar and I never show disrespect by pointing those things out, especially when I understand what the writer is trying to say. After all, none of us are getting paid for our "work" here on SodaHead, you know.

AND, speaking of clumsy, for your information, when using quotation marks, the comma and the period go inside, not outside. Semicolons go outside.

Now, see what you've gone and done? You have caused me to be catty. Evidently you bring out the beast in me.

"She reminds me of something me & my best friend...". Should read thus. "She reminds me of a saying my best friend and I once used.".
