Lightsaber Training School: Awesome or Geeky?

i'm not gonna lie, it is kinda cool, and i prolly would take a class, BUT, untill someone invents an actual lightsaber that can actually hurt somebody, its just kinda geeky. i mean, a plastic lightsaber is not gonna protect u. sure, i bet u could use the same skills with a sword, but idk... kinda geeky. tho i do kinda want one... lol

Ok, I love Star Wars, but come on... It's not about "growing up" it's about the fact that you're actually doing nothing. I get that it might be fun, but I'd hardly be signing up and the fact that it's taking itself seriously is too much.

Who cares about a fake glowing plastic stick that can't do anything? Get a real, battle-ready sword that can actually do some damage.

It has to be for geeks, as to understand just how a lightsaber works calls for brains beyond mortal mans understanding, Lol.
There are already "Phat Lazers" being looked into just for the realism of a lightsaber, meaning lazer beams that are wide, thick and round that only illuminate for 4 feet from the base unit that you can actually strike through solid matter with like a flash light beam that is only 4 feet long.
After that it will only be a matter of time before someone thinks up the same toy to become a particle beam that will cut through matter like a hot knife through butter.
That's when you gonna hear about all the hands, arms, and legs being cut off from stupid people with real lightsabers.
Well like you now hear about with all the nut's with guns killing people with.
Wonder if lightsabers will belong to the right-to-bear-arms group, and conrgess will have to ban or require waiting periods to purchase Lightsabers to see if your nuts or have a criminal record, Hmmmmmm, and if they ever figure out how to extend the particle beam to say 40 or 50 feet long, there will be total chaos, that's for sure.
Ok I'm already scared just talking about this, I'm done now.

What would be the actually purpose. It's not like the skill will be usefull. Of course if you just want to express your live for StarWars that fine, but this would not be at all useful.

If you want to learn how to swordfight, get some real swords or Kendo sticks.

First off, what makes the two answers either antithesis or exclusive of one another? Secondly, that means people who may not be inclined to physical activity are gaining motivation to learn some basic fencing.
