    We haven't gone far enough.

I am so tired of LGBT Uncle Toms telling me that I need to "respect" the opinions of people who go around saying that my love for my partner is sinful, that I shouldn't be allowed to be married, and that people like me should not have employment protections. Those opinions are bigoted, not respectable, and not to be respected. The fact that those opinions are often cloaked in "religious faith" does not make them respectable. The southern racists in the 1950s cloaked their bigotry in "religious faith".

LGBT people often grow up internalizing the homophobia and transphobia that they grew up with. And I think internalized homophobia and transphobia is often the cause of LGBT people making excuses for our enemies, for the people who publicly disrespect us and wish to prevent us from obtaining equal rights.

Gay marriage doesn't harm anybody and does not take any rights away from you. You still can believe it is a sin and worship in your church. Not everyone believes in the bible and biblical laws should not be forced on everyone. This isn't a theocracy. Marriage is not a Christian institution. Marriage existed before Christianity. In the U.S., Atheists, Agnostics,Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Pagans, Wiccans, etc. are also allowed to get married. But, I do not see anyone complaining about that.

Marriage existed way before Christianity was ever dreamed up. Before Judaism was ever dreamed up. Before Zoroastrianism. Marriage was created by Pagans. It's not a Christian religious institution. WE perfected marriage. WE created marriage. So the Christians should not get a say in what is and is not permissible for our religious rites.

The concept of marriage predates Christianity and the other two forms of Abrahamic religions, Judaism and Islam which share a common origin and common values. Marriage is very ancient dating back beyond recorded history and was practiced by all people of many cultures, ethnicities and belief systems on all continents.

I'm gay too and I personally don't have too much of a problem with things like "gay activism" and "taking steps to give the community a better image." Some tactics taken are done in bad taste, others are great. And some will be polarizing.

For example! Something I personally feel (everyone reacts differently to stuff) is done well is the It Gets Better and Trevor Projects. However, the founder of the It Gets Better stuff, Dan Savage, gave that speech about ignoring the negative things the Bible says because it's a garbage book anyway. THAT is going to be polarizing. I personally don't care, and rather agree (I'm agnostic-atheist) but in general it might not be the best for the community.

Overall though, something in society needs to change and every gay person realizes this for ourselves. The problem lies in the fact that we'll all act and respond differently.

I can pretty much agree with most of that... but your perception of the Bible is a little distorted. I am a person who's been trying to press that the Bible actually doesn't really call Homosexuality a sin.

I post this at various placed on the net.
((Homosexuality is not a sin according to the Bible. Any educated Christian would know that. Scholars who have studied the Bible in context of the times and in relation to other passages have shown those passages (Leviticus, Corinthians, Romans, etc) have nothing to do with homosexuality. People used God to claim that blacks marrying whites was unnatural, and not of God's will.))

I am *not* trying to convince you to go religious, just pointing things like this out. I am still boarder-line atheist, as I try to regain reason for faith in it all.
I speak and have a conversation with a ghost, I'll have much more faith quick.

But getting to the reason I posted this.
I won't peaceful acceptance, or live and let live, even if a person doesn't like it.
So a str8 can hate me, I don't care... lets be peaceful, and we can still get along.
I do not condone people who act out too far. That's what this is about.

This also went better then I thought, as it's a sensitive subject. I didn't expect it to go as well as it did actually. I expected people to leave some sort of hateful comment... I am glad they did not.

Some of us hardly chose the way we are. As we grew, we seemed to grow more attracted to other boys, when we were boys. Sometimes that's nearly normal. But the ones who still like other males when they are adults, are gay.
This is mostly what happened to me, as I never stopped wanting to see male body parts. I had gay imaginations when I was 10, and never understood then what it meant.
That's more info then you needed, but maybe, some people on here will realize, it starts very young.

    Take Care Man. ;-)

I appreciate your nonagressive reply, but I have one suggestion for you: read the Bible in its entirety. Penn Jillette once claimed that the fastest way toward becoming a skeptic or atheist is to just sit down and read the Bible cover to cover.
