1984:
WAR IS PEACE
SLAVERY IS FREEDOM
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
Now we can add (choose one)
ABORTION IS WOMEN'S HEALTH
ABORTION IS WOMEN'S HEALTH CARE
ABORTION IS WOMEN'S HEALTH ISSUES
ABORTION IS CHOICE
ABORTION IS FREEDOM TO CHOOSE
ABORTION IS RIGHT TO CHOOSE
and so on and so on and so on. Just don't call it ABORTION.
(less)
one of our mps...in my city..George Galloway..is one that condones rape...now...would he say the same if some guy raped HIS daughter..or wife?...I dont know if he is married...cant see any woman wanting to know a fool like him
Additionally, Akin has issued an apology for the original statement.
The video attached to this poll is absolutely stupid. Unfortunately there are LWNJ koolaide drinkers who actually believe such tripe.
nobody but Akin thinks that conception is not possible when the insemination is part of rape.
apology accepted, but stupidity is not.
I did see some of his original interview and he went on to mention those who use rape as an excuse to get an abortion.
Akin was saying that some women will be pregnant and decide to claim rape because; their husbands left them; boyfriends left them; one night stand that turned out wrong; too much to drink that night...
These are "illegitimate" claims of rape rather than "actual" (legitimate) claims of rape.
One of the reasons women bruise vaginally during rape (a forensic tool to prove rape) is because she is not lubricated and when force is used, penetration is difficult and perhaps deep penetration. The depth and the lubrication aid in the ability of the sperm to cause impregnation.
Also, and unfortunately, too many women are raped each year, the probability that a rapist will attack a woman that is ovulating and "ready" to become pregnant seem very, very slim. Thus, considering lubrication, depth and ovulation times, there is not that much evidence to make a claim that a rape caused a pregnancy and therefore an abortion is needed. He made his case clumsily (as I have mine) and he was also edited so everyone jumped on him.
The poll question was posted as and/or about an attack on Akin (which was even more inappropriate than the gaffe statement that he is being attacked for.) My original comment was is reply to the intent of the question.
