Lake Lure, NC

Took our family to visit Lake Lure, yesterday. it's a very small get away hidden in the foot hills of western NC, just about an hour and a half from our home. part of the Broad River basin it's cool water is home to Bass, Catfish and Brown Trout. For the cost of a few gallons of gas and a picknic it's hard to ignore. Coupled with the tourist trap of Chimney Rock, both have a dozen or so camp grounds, restaurants and stores featuring artifacts made both locally and abroad (store owners Will tell the difference if you ask, but only if you ask). there is ample evidence that this nice corner of the world has been discovered by folks as far distant as FL and CN to MO.

For many years my family have found it a quit, safe place to take our families for a day trip or camping. I decided to share a few internet pic's with my SH family, since neither Kitty nor myself remmembered to take the camea this time.

My brother-in-law, Ricardo, and I had a quite day fishing while our wives and kids swam at the local swiming beach and got a little too much sun.

Now, let me see what the official web has on Lake Lure and Chemney Rock, located in Rutherford County, NC.

If Y'all decide to visit some time be aware, it is a small corner, though there is a supermarket available.
You!

That is beautiful country! ... camping, fishing, swimming, hiking, taking advantage of what nature has to offer, nothing quite like it! Now, if they had a baseball field with some games happening, twould be the ideal place, thanks for sharing!

There are schools available, but not enough flat ground for much else.

Thanks from the Tar Heel state. We have planned an Outer Banks trip several times, but the means aren't there.

Sadly, my own experience with MO was Ft. Leanord Wood. Not a local I plan to ever re-visit.
