Ladies! I need your opinions!

My hair is pseudo textured and I really don't know how to work with it beyond dying it, washing, adding oils to, and straightening it. I almost always have my hair straightened because I simply cannot style my own hair in a sense of braids etc.
Fortunately for me, I know some people who are excellent with my hair type and can do quite a bit of styling with it.
My question is what the hell is in nowadays? My hair is at about chest length on one side and just past my chin on the other and I want to do something different. I don't think that cornrows are ideal since the lengths are different and I do not want to cut any off.
I'm just looking for a few suggestions. Thanks!
