Talk to your ob/gyn. There are some neat heating type pads that you can stick to your abdomen and it helps with cramps. Also, avoid caffeine, processed foods... If you are having a really difficult time, you may have fibroids or endometriosis. See your doc.
I've never tried the midol, so I can't speak on it. I use to have horrible cramps when I was younger. I didn't do anything but lay in pain (I wouldn't take medication). But what will be helpful is a heating pad, a hot water bottle, Ibuprofen, I seen a couple ladies mention birth control but that varies by each person. I was one that couldn't take it, instead of stopping my cycle it went on nonstop!
I know how you feel mine get so bad I puke sometimes.I suggest you laid down and sleep it helps me.I would also talk to your doctor to see if they had a medicine I have one but it makes me sleepy.
As a rule, I avoid processed foods as much as possible and include a lot of plant based foods in my diet. I also try to get enough sleep, fluids, and then just take it easy for a day or two during that time of the month. I think it helps to stay active most of the month. Belly dancing can help because it works the middle part of your body in more of a feminine way. It can be done slowly and gently for that time of month, by the way. All that doesn't make it all go away but it seems to help.
I think it helps at the root cause end of things whereas pain pills are more on the damage end control of things. I try not to take pain pills most of the time but will use them if I feel I must.
Ugh, believe me I feel your pain. For me I've found that exercise is the best medicine so I'll go for a run/walk or do yoga if my cramps are really getting to me. Hot baths help too.
take some aleve and weight from them to work but if want to plan ahead of time exercise
it wont hurt as bad or if your lucky wont hurt at all dont walk around bare footed
eat alomonds they help too.
I started taking Naproxen sodium after a car accident and the doctor told me that it would also help my cramps. I quit dreading my monthly cramps after that. Now you can get it over the counter as Aleve but I don't know if the over the counter stuff works as good as the prescription strength that the doctor prescribed. Everyone's body is different but this stuff worked wonders for me.
I don't usually get cramps,
but when I do I usually eat Bananas.
The potassium in them counteracts the pain. Plus it's healthy which is a bonus.
It sounds odd eh, but it does help out a lot.
Me too, I find stretching helps. Especially stretching your abs and lower back. Lie on your stomach and lift your arms and upper body off the floor, keeping your legs and butt locked to the floor. And after repeating that a few times, roll onto your back into a curled up position (knees up to chest, holding your folded legs with arms). Lots of stretches help, and are good for fitness and flexibility. That's what I do anyway. I'd be wary of taking pills whenever I get cramps. We already put enough chemicals in our bodies. But if the stretching doesn't help then I guess pills are the alternative
Believe it or not, sometimes anti-depressants are used to help if everything else fails. You might want to talk to your doctor about that. I've never had them myself, but I've known people who told me it was horrible when they got them. You can get some of these generic. They seem to help. But, if you are a teen, many doctors won't give anti-depressants out because they can cause serious side effects. So you'll have to be careful when using any prescription drugs like these.
You too. But only a doctor can determine if an anti-depressant can be used, especially with teens. There are serious side effects the younger the person is. So be careful.

And elevate your legs onto a desk or some pillows. It can relieve the pain.
