Kyoto got its name when a 17th century map maker accidentally mispelled Tokyo. When his boss noticed the error, he simply covered his mistake by pointing at a blank space and saying "There it is, right there." The error became a fully fledged city.

THIS IS A LIE, but it sounds plausible. Do you have a convincing lie to tell?

There's all kinds of them. "Britain was the primary victor over Napoleon." Lie. Austria was the primary victor and contributed far more than Britain ever did. Or "The Americans saved France in both World Wars." This is a lie. France saved itself in WWI, the French Army was by far the one bearing the heaviest burden on the Western Front since day one. When the Americans arrived they even needed the French to arm them. In WWII the Soviet Union saved France, and everybody else (from Germany at least, not from themselves). The Wehrmacht was obliterated by the Russian Army of well over 500 divisions, not by the relatively paltry contribution of the Americans. The American Army reached 90 divisions between the Pacific and Europe, making the Russian Army over 5 times the size of the American. During Operation Hannibal the Kriegsmarine conducted an evacuation of a German pocket from Courland, which had been surrounded by the Russians. In this pocket there were more soldiers trapped than the entire British Army. Just to give you some perspective on who the war. The Wehrmacht peaked at some 280 divisions mid-way throughout the war, and the Wehrmacht performed generally much better than any other army. Without the Russians the Americans and British together would have been crushed by the Germans had they landed.reply
