I loved Duke Wayne. I don't like all of his films but I do like most of them that I've seen.

And there is no doubt that he was not only an American icon but was also an American institution.

But to me, Johnny Cash represented more Americans than the Duke ever did simply because he was more open-minded about the opinions and beliefs of others.

He appealed to more Americans because of this so I think he wins this by a nose.
