While aware they both wrote children's fiction it seems they wrote to different audiences and/or from different backgrounds.
Lewis was a Christian who wrote both fiction and non-fiction books always heavily influenced by or specifically about his religion, Christianity. My favorite C.S. Lewis book is "Mere Christianity".
Rowling's series of Potter books and movies are sensational. Being a fan of "fantasy" genre, I enjoy both. I don't believe Rowling is working purposely from the background of or to make a point about a particular religion.
It's difficult to say given one is dead and the other isn't but I suppose they are equally sensational authors.
Without CS Lewis no one would know who JK Rowling is. Rowling listed him as an influence plus CS Lewis and JR Tolkien paved the way for fantasy writers like Rowling.
It's a bit of an insult to ask which is the better of the two....and Rowling would agree.
