When my daughter got married, she left her dog with me, because a big dog does not do well in a small apartment. I told her at the time, that I was not letting the dog go. She just moved into a house with a yard with her new husband, but wanted to know if I really was keeping the dog. I had visions of her stealing here in the dead of night and making off the the dog. Fortunately, though, their new house has a train go by, which would have terrorized Akira, who is sort of a wimp. So now, I officially own a dog! Welcome, Akira! (of course, she's been sleeping with me for almost a year now)

+5I know exactly how you feel. My son did the same thing and after four years asked for his dog back and you know what I said. No, she is my girl now and she stays here. And after fourteen years I finally said goodbye and let her go to the rainbow bridge.
(and Congrats to your daughter/husband for adopting one that definitely had a need for a loving home as well!)
