Not necessarily. Yawning is a natural bodily function. I must admit that I hate yawning in front of people though, and I'll usually do that closed mouth, trying not to yawn thing that is probably still really obvious.

yawning is a natural response, i try not too, though i can make myself yawn easily, evn on accident. shouldn't be taken as a sign of boredom

If they're yawning because they're bored, they should try to hide it. If they're yawning because they're tired, it's not rude to be tired. Most people cover their mouth anyway just to be polite.

Well, it's considered so. Sometimes it just might be a coincidence.

it could be perceived that way of course; maybe someone who's tired but doesn't already look like it could dab some eyeliner pencil to make lines under their eyes, then it'd seem less rude? ;o

I cover my mouth and say "excuse me, need to get more sleep" or something like that.

It just tells the person is tired. I yawn all the time when I'm tired, I can't help it. I don't know why it is taken as rude or disrespectful though.

...and if they take offense to it, then they need to rethink their spiel. No one likes a chatterbox, and no one likes to be lectured...two things that will always get a yawn from anyone. :P

it indicates being tired, nervous, drunk or listening to an Obama speech.

Yawning is involuntary. I fail to see how it can be taken as rude or disrespectful. How you deal with it possibly could be, but not the action itself.

Sometimes, it's impossible to not yawn, even when the speaker speaks the truth.

It makes you look uninterested in them and what they're saying. Especially so, in the case of something really formal like a job interview.

Personally i don't think so, it's a natural bodily function like breathing or blinking. But a lot of idiots seem to think it is.
