I have a friend who's 5'6 and weighs 129 pounds. Is this overweight, underweight or normal?

    Male or female?

It's neither over or under, but everyone has a weight that looks the best on them. I'm that height, and I look and feel the best at 122.

It could be any of the three, depending on how your friend carries that weight.

Contrary to the government's little healthy body weight/height chart, it's not as simple as that. That will cover a decent portion of the population, but there are always outliers on each end.

She could gain a few more pounds and still be normal.

She could also lose a few more pounds and still be normal. "Normal" is a range....

I know that. Besides it more comforting knowing you can gain some weight. I was doing a scale of my weight. Since I'm about 5'5 and I weigh 116. It really depends on the person too. She could be muscular and that could add on some pounds.

She is fine, more than 150 at that height for a woman would be 'overweight'.

I would say it was a little underweight, most adults are around 11 stone (154 pounds)

It's on the low-end, but that's normal. Besides, it shouldn't matter what's "normal," as "normal" is in the eye of the beholder. If your friend is comfortable in his/her own body, who cares what society says they should weigh.

Seems pretty normal to me, although I personally wouldn't mind a few extra pounds in the "right places"

Sounds like within a BMI for that height.
