Is the Zombie Apocalypse Upon Us? (The Internet Thinks So)

In the wake of a series of gory incidents, the Internet has been lighting up with claims that we are in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. Skeptical? Well, let’s take a look at the evidence from the last few weeks.

1) A naked man chewed off the face of a homeless guy in Miami. The attacker growled at police officers and continued eating skin even after being shot. It took four more bullets to kill him. 2) A Japanese artist removed his own genitals and served them at a restaurant to the highest bidder. 3) A Maryland man confessed to killing his housemate, chopping him up, and then eating his heart and part of his brain. 4) A New Jersey man repeatedly stabbed himself and then threw pieces of his skin and intestines at the police.

And that’s not all. Newsweek and The Daily Beast have compiled a “Zombie Instances” Google map, which is keeping track of these incidents and other “signs” of the zombie apocalypse -- such as the recent cases of flesh-eating bacteria.

Though many of the zombie apocalypse claims have been made in jest, the Centers for Disease Control issued a serious response. A spokesman told the Huffington Post, "CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead . . . or one that would present zombie-like symptoms." So, what do you think SodaHeads? Is the zombie apocalypse upon us?

No Zombies... there won't be anyone left to zombify, After the pollution has ruined the air causing global warming making the planet uninhabitable, and most of our population has died off, leaving only the religious chosen ones around to be eaten by the Aliens who will invade us to take our water for fuel.

Through all of that however.. Cock roaches and Rats will do just fine.

    Don't forget twinkies.
    Cockroaches and twinkies

I'd be more worried about Judgment Day personally. Machines taking over the world is highly more likely than zombies.

I read a lot of comments on the internet and why does everyone think theyll be alive during a zombie Apocalypse? And most guys would want to be with the hot girl like the see in the movies. In reality, a lot of pets would be dead, loved ones would be dead and we most likely would be dead to. and there would probably be no hot girl theyll most likely run into another guy.

7 Scientific Reasons a Zombie Outbreak Would Fail (Quickly)

also the only way I can think of for a person to become a zombie would be through a parasite, or in the cases being talked about now, bath salts. in which something I leaned about them after doing a little checking was the increased strength and resilience they gain making fighting back a little harder. but still don't think they will match to my speed and agility.

All I have to say to the first reason is this: then there'd be zombie bears. wolves, coyotes, dogs, and cougars, like in Resisdent Evil. And to some of the others, what if it's just a disease, that does what rabies does to animals minus the part where they die? :)
  • reaper Midnite12 2012/06/07 02:09:20
not all animals are effected by rabies. might be same case here and might on infect people. I know there are some parasites that "zombify" ants and snails but thats so it can be eaten and infect it's proper host it lives upon.
  • Midnite12 reaper 2012/06/08 01:03:08
True, but you know what I mean, right? People gone mad from some kind of new mutant disease that causes aggression and makes them eat people, and infects any animal that eats the zombie body. Not hordes of the undead, just your diseased and now insane next door neighbors who want to chew your face off. ;)

I suppose people could create the equivalent of that experience for themselves if they believed it and focused on it enough. I don't think that's the sort of thing most people want to create or spend much time thinking about so I doubt it will ever be a widespread experience.
believed focused sort people create spend thinking doubt widespread experience

all democrat voters! hahahahahaha I could resist. If had my rathers, in regard to the end of the world, I'd rather have zombies over nukes or a virus. I can survive your run of the mill zombie attack. They're usually slow and uncoordinated. I can beat that. Find me another woman and settle in a gated compound with plenty of room for a garden and a little livestock with lots of work on repopulating the earth.

I think it's honestly more of an outbreak of crazy cannibalists more than actual zombies. People are honestly just getting crazier as life goes on, I think in a couple years this might be the norm.
  • Kalani 2012/06/06 01:47:39
The people are cannibals, not zombies, and I'm sure their victims didn't turn...
  • king david Kalani 2012/06/06 01:53:54

well since the blood inside the canables would have been contaminated with drugs then if their blood got mixed with theirs then they probaly would in time
  • veronica 2012/06/06 01:37:21
no not really ,people are just crazy.
  • Chris 2012/06/06 00:50:50
It's just drugs are getting more crazier to be able to sell a legal drug... if we would just legalize cannabis people wouldn't be looking to all these crazy experimental legal drugs that'll make you eat people's faces off.

It is amazing what an effect that type of salt can have on your brain. Although how screwed up would it be. The media ordered to play this down. Because they think they have it under control. All the while that's how the apocalypse got so bad. I mean think about it. What if something is going on. This is not an isolated incident. This man did not at first respond to being shot. And when he did, it was to growl. He was in fact eating him, swallowing his flesh. This was not a stunt for attention. I've seen the full video. They might inadvertently trigger a permanent state. It's already proven certain derivatives of salt can trigger homicidal cannibalistic behavior. What's to say this isn't some sort of test ground.
