Is the Zombie Apocalypse Upon Us? (The Internet Thinks So)

In the wake of a series of gory incidents, the Internet has been lighting up with claims that we are in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. Skeptical? Well, let’s take a look at the evidence from the last few weeks.

1) A naked man chewed off the face of a homeless guy in Miami. The attacker growled at police officers and continued eating skin even after being shot. It took four more bullets to kill him. 2) A Japanese artist removed his own genitals and served them at a restaurant to the highest bidder. 3) A Maryland man confessed to killing his housemate, chopping him up, and then eating his heart and part of his brain. 4) A New Jersey man repeatedly stabbed himself and then threw pieces of his skin and intestines at the police.

And that’s not all. Newsweek and The Daily Beast have compiled a “Zombie Instances” Google map, which is keeping track of these incidents and other “signs” of the zombie apocalypse -- such as the recent cases of flesh-eating bacteria.

Though many of the zombie apocalypse claims have been made in jest, the Centers for Disease Control issued a serious response. A spokesman told the Huffington Post, "CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead . . . or one that would present zombie-like symptoms." So, what do you think SodaHeads? Is the zombie apocalypse upon us?

I love that people started crying "zombie" over a guy on drugs doing something disturbing.

    There's some key elements missing.

At least not in NJ. The guy who cut his intestines and threw them at police was in a town near me. An acquaintance of mine (call him Ted, not his real name) is on that town's police force. He wasn't on the scene but was showing us pictures cops who were there took. You won't see these photos on the news.

Not only was the self mutilator oblivious to pepper spray but sponge bullets shot at his legs and thighs had no effect either. According to Ted getting shot with a sponge bullet is like getting hit with a fastball from a baseball pitcher. Finally the officers pushed a piece of furniture pinning the man to the wall. Still not enough. This guy's stomach is completely cut open and still the cops can't subdue him. Finally they put something (forgot exactly what since at this point I'm kinda in shock from the pictures and account) over his face and were able to get him in an ambulance. The fact this guy survived is beyond belief to anyone who saw the man or pictures.

While this isn't confirmed Ted and other officers believe the man was on the drug PCP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... Their department has to deal with PCP users frequently. I first heard about the drug in the early '70s. Wouldn't touch it. A PCP overdose can turn someone into as close to a zombie as is realistically p...

I first heard about the drug in the early '70s. Wouldn't touch it. A PCP overdose can turn someone into as close to a zombie as is realistically possible. All sense of humanity is lost. Paranoia can completely consume the user. Nothing, no matter how gruesome, is beyond their doing. As shown above the person can seem to have super human strength and endurance even when severely injured. There is no way anyone can reason with someone "possessed" by PCP.

Over the years there have been numerous reports of horrific acts committed by PCP users. I wouldn't be surprised if some, or many, of these "zombie" incidents are the result of PCP or something else that affects the brain similarly.

Cannibalism and seemingly random acts of the grotesque violence have been happening throught out human history, today we just have the media here to constantly remind us how f'd up humanity still is....

But as f'd up as the world is today, it is nowhere the cruelty people suffered 500 years ago.

Even so maybe everyone should just stay inside just in case. In a couple hundred years we will let you know when it is safe to come out. Also zombies can go through the internet so you will need to disconnect.

disasters of this sort almost always start out insideouly. it sneaks up on us to leave as many people unprepared as possible. The man eating another mans face off. The male porn star who dismembered his partner, the girl with flesh eating bacteria. the guy who cut himself open, cut out his own intestines and threw them at the cops are all sign.... Jeez, Moses didn't need these many signs
