It's simply a request, you don't have to say yes, you can say no.

Generally not, except in some cases when a person is disturbed by you, or that he does not love you,
I hope .... you get the love from all who you ask his friendship, lol .

I personally don't send friend requests to any strangers on Facebook but I have accepted select requests from strangers if they either send an explanation as to why they are sending the request, or I can see enough on the profile information visible to strangers that we have things in common. I've had good results with that, but on the other hand I've also rejected a few requests that don't conform.

    repeated requests...
    would be harassment-

    a couple years ago...
    as an experiment...
i sent out 25 friend requests...
to guys who shared my first and last name-

    several replied and accepted-
a couple were rude asses about it-

    one guy in wales...
    i still chat with regularly-
we have become pretty good friends-
as much as is possible solely online-

It can be if you don't have anything in common, like a group. If its just for games and someone doesn't play games anymore, then I'd say yes.

I only send friend requests to people I know, so I would not do this. However I am not sure if this would be considered harassment!

I love making all kinds of new friends. Once in a while I get one that's argumentative or sends me too many game requests - I remove them.

It's not that hard to click "Delete request" and besides, you can click that you don't know the person and they can't ever send you a request again. Problem solved, butthurt people.

If they ask you to stop, and you continue, then it's harassment, by any definition.

Facebook is getting extremely strange. They have locked me out of my account and won't answer my emails. Just because I tried to log in on a different computer. They have a lot of law suits going on.

I quit FB months ago; let Big Brother glean info about me in other ways. Plus, I had nearly 5,000 "friends," most of whom I knew not of. I interacted with maybe 50 of those "friends."

Facebook says it is harassment and in some cases it might be. That's why, when I was playing Mafia Wars, etc. on FB and needed more players, I always made sure they were a player AND said so in my friend request. Never had a problem getting players; but I did get a warning and blocked from sending a friend request for 72 hours, when I tried to contact someone who might have been a college classmate. Apparently they weren't because I found them later on another website and they didn't have FB page.

Well I think the purpose of a social networking site should be to meet new people. Why do I need it to talk to people I already know? I have a phone for that.
