I go barefoot all day long, every day, rain or shine at work, and my work is a public place. And I won't go out of my way to remove whatever shoes I happen to have on, but I also don't see the need to put shoes on to run to the video store or the market or Subway. If there's a sign, I won't go in. But there's no law against it, there's no health code violation, and unless you're walking barefoot through a landfill or something, as long as you bathe regularly, you probably won't catch anything other than the occasional pebble on your sole. However, all those people that wear shoes all the time that have bunions and corns and have mangled feet probably aren't exactly having the time of their life. You only live once, and I say, live free. If you've got a problem with my bare feet, don't look at them. It's not affecting you. Let your toes breathe. I find I get stressed easier, the longer I have to have shoes on. And if I'm behind you in the checkout line and my bare feet bother you, it's not like I'm going to jump up on the register and rub the soles of my feet all over you and everything you're buying. Come on, now. Live and let live, people.

I am a 17 year old guy who loves to walk around barefoot, I just don't have the courage to do it in public lol but I would love to see more girls walk around barefoot because I kinda have a Foot fetish, but even though I don't like guys feet I think they (And anyone else) should be able to walk around barefoot if they please.

I have been an avid barefooter for a couple of years now, and it drives me crazy when people look at me weird or tell me off for being 'indecent'. Why is this indecent? Do you wear gloves on your hands all the time? No, only when it's cold, or you need them for safety reasons. I wear shoes if I'm going to be walking around dangerous ground, and even then they are minimalist shoes. Everyone hates the fact that my feet are always dirty, but guess what? They don't stink, I have never had a foot/leg/back problem, and actually, getting out in the dirt and grime will boost your immune system. I haven't been sick in over a year and a half. And I clean my feet daily, just like I wash my hands after using the bathroom or petting a dog. Pedicured, pristine, and shoe-ed feet may be prettier, but those are some weak feet. So don't diss my naked piggies!

unless you're at the beach..but I did walk barefooted at LAX. They told me to take my shoes off before going thru that detector thing!! and because I was rushing to catch my flight I didnt bother putting them back on till I got inside the plane. I believe I saw a few other passengers who did the same...

It depends on the way your feet look and if you keep them clean.

Weird? no...dangerous? absolutely. For all of you who go barefoot anywhere other than the beach, you need to go online and discover the not-sp-wonderful world of hookworms and what they are and what they can do.
With other pernicious parasites that can attach and burrow their way into either your muscle or blood stream, you DO need to be educated. Please trust me when I tell you that ignorance is NOT BLISS!!!!
I saw a woman in the hospital whose leg had lumps that were moving. She explained that they were parasites that she picked up in the Caribbean...walking barefoot. They were of some weird and nasty variety & I didn't stick around to see how she made out, but as I said...check out all this online. It could save your health, and more. Good luck!

I'm a vet tech and fully aware of the dangers of going barefoot but it doesn't stop me. I guess because I've never known anyone that it's happened to so I think "It'll never happen to me"

In order to get hookworm, you have to stand in (stand in, not merely step in) infected poop, or fail to clean it off if it sticks. The existence of infected poop requires an infected person. In order for the poop to be stand-in-able, the infected person needs to leave it on the ground, as opposed to in the toilet.
Where toilets are used, hookworms do not exist, because they cannot spread. (Frost also kills hookworms.)
If you are somewhere that has hookworms, just keep moving, keep your feet clean, and avoid feces.

Well there is a slight difference between the carribean and the united kingdom. I don't believe that we have any creature like this who can burrie into our feet.

Maybe not weird but gross in public. My son's girlfriend met us at the grocery store just yesterday barefoot. There are to many big nastiest out there to worry about. Plus clean pedicured feet are so much prettier.
