No, it's not murder. There may be many reasons someone may not want to, or be able to, donate.

It's your own body, you have a right to say no. I don't see why anyone would not want to give their organs though.

You don't have an obligation to save someone's else's life, but if by giving them your organ it would save their life then I guess you could say it's murder if you don't............

I didn't like either of the answers. The "obligation" one is ludicrous and the other is insensitive. I am an organ donor, but that is my choice. Everyone has a right to choose and those who are not donors should not be scrutinized. After all who likes the thought if being brain dead, still ALIVE and being HARVESTED.
Especially when brain dead individuals occasionally recover. If they were donors they would be dead.

Being an organ donor is a very noble thing to do I am an organ donor. Society does have an obligation to humanity. If one does have a vital organ they can donate that will save the life of another they certainly should. However, I am not entirely sure that I would call it murder if they don't. That is a decision there conscience needs to decide. Calling it murder if they don't donate the organ would indicate they would be facing criminal charges or at least be able to. That would create a police state which is not what this world needs. There are also risks involved with organ donation. The one recieving the organ's body can reject an organ and there are risks for the one donating the organ as well. So, it is an option and the decision to donate or not to donate needs to be taken very seriously and not forced.

I love to bring this up to people who oppose abortion. Abortion is the termination of life support and if government can make someone give life support, can't they also make someone give blood or an extra organ? What is funny is that people who oppose abortion generally will say they are for small government.

There are some religions and some cultures that believe you must bury all of your body. It is a personal choice. I've made the choice to donate and I hope others will too but I do not begrudge someone that does not wish to donate.

Of course not. Murder requires an intent to kill. NOT donating doesn't even come close. There's no way to know until you're dead whether your organs are even usable, and the older you get, the fewer of your parts will be desirable. Why would a 55-yo want the heart of an 80-yo, even a healthy 80-yo?

You obviously have your mind made up on this matter.
What are you looking for confirmation?

There is no obligation to do so. While alive it is a gift that I might bestow on the deemed worthy (the fear factor needs to be vanquished). Dead I guess it is up for grabs.

What if you're not a match or you can't give your organ? Does that make you a murderer too if someone asks you to be their organ donor? That's hardly fair. It takes a special person to be able to donate their living organ to another. Kudos to them for being able to do so. But a price/punishment should not be attached for saying no.

I think when you can, you should but there is no way it would ever be manditory.

You did not specify while alive or after death. IMO neither condition requires that you donate any organ and not doing so is not murder.

It's definitely not murder, but asking someone to give up an organ, an essential part of their body for a reason (whether they have two of that organ or not), is not an easy thing to do.
I myself am a ready and willing organ donor.

    NO, it is not murder.

Donating your organs is a personal decision, you are not obligated in any way.

Plus, you did not make anyone else sick. So you aren't committing murder by refusing to donate.

Actually I should have choose other. Because I don't think this answer is right either. I just don't think refusing to be a donor = murder. You didn't make the other person sick. That has nothing to do with you.

that is very true murder is intending to kill and not donating an organ is making an informed decision about your life and whats right for you. Like you said you didn't make the person sick and trying to label it as murder is trying to play on guilt rather than facts. That personalizes every health problem in the world on everyone else everything else in the world but the one who needs the organ because they got sick. For example a smoker is far more likely to get lung cancer and other illnesses than a non smoker. I smoke so I can speek from experience. These illnesses would be caused by my actions if i ever get them. So a lung transplant may at some point be needed but the cause was my own doing not others.
