No matter how America seems to be, it's only a portion of the population. For every good person, there will always be at least one whose white trash. So, please elaborate, Lizzie.

Yes. In France the great heroes are chefs and writers. Most Americans
like James Dean but duh probably don't understand the concept
    or who invented method acting.

Culture in it's self can never be shallow but people and their interpretation of it can be very shallow. Can i just say that the culture that America exports isn't of the highes quality, when i know that you have so much better to offer.

I've lived abroad & can tell you that while we may have many shallow people throughout our nation, American Culture itself is pretty rich. We have many noble ideals & are still the most altruistic people in the world!

Let's see, whenever there is any kind of disaster anywhere in the world, when after a World War, who pays the bills and then forgives the loans.
who has fought all over the place and the only land we have kept is a patch to bury our dead. No I don't think we're shallow. Those people are until there cookies get in a bind again. Who ya gonna call?

I agree in the historical context. Unfortunately, the culture is getting dumbed down right along with the people.

That really has nothing to do with American Culture per say. They are just diverse aspect found within it but still their culktural diversity is really separate

It's not our fault, we don't have that long of a history-- there aren't cool crumbling castles everywhere or the ability to get to the Lourve by walking down the Jardin des Tuileries. Just a lot of wide open spaces, Denny's, and Walmarts.

I think in general, it is. I think in the CITIES it is wonderful. But after living in the South for a year, I have to say it is shallow. Apparently most of America is more like the South and middle America than like the cities...

    New York, here I come!
