Is age difference in relationships a big deal?

In my opinion not at all, I mean if you really love them then age is just a number it shouldn't hold you back :)

Love is a wonderful gift we all have but really you have to think. Age is very important. What if a seventeen year old falls inlove with an 8 year old? That's plain out messed up! Or a thirty year old falls for a 15 year old. T.T people come on. Don't fall inlove so easy. I mean if you're really young, you still need to learn what love is. You can't automatically say you love a person. Cause in reality that may not be the case. There's many fish in the sea, you just gotta keep searching for the freshest one. That's just my opinion really. But it's their life, no one can stop them. :/

It depends on how much of an age difference or if they are under age.

you need a undecided button. But i would say yes, for this reason. Lets say the guy is 55 and the girl is 14... yea that is pretty bad. That is the only time i would see age being a problem with relationships is that it is ten plus years between the people.

The reason I said yes is because it can be a big deal, depending upon all sorts of variables. Sometimes it's a non issue.

But mental age can make a difference. People who are more mature than others at different ages can be badly matched.

I have plenty of guy friends here but only one of them I know is fairly close to my age in birth years but he is much wiser than I about most everything in this world.

when you are in high school it does. i have friends whos parents are 7 years apart. like 37 and 44 thats not bad, but if you put them back in high school the dad would have been a senior and the mom would have been in the 5th grade!!!!

If there is a significant age differance, it can be very challenging, different levels of maturity mentally.

At least i hope not..girl i like is 9 years younger.

It can be. First of all, it depends on your age. What is a huge difference when you're in your teens and early 20's may not be so much when you're 50. For example, imagine a 20 year old dating a 15 year old! Not appropriate, no matter what sex either are. Imagine a 50 year old dating a 55 year old. Big deal? Nope.

If you date someone younger than you, you need to make sure you're on the same page as far as what you want at your stage of life. If you're a 50's man dating a 20's woman, she may want babies, and you may be through with that stage. If you're dating someone 10 or more years older, you may not like the same music, activities, etc. Some of this stuff is easily solved, but others can be deal breakers.

It depends on the age. I will never date/marry someone more that 5 to 7 years older than me and NEVER someone younger than me for my own personal reasons. But people who go with people 10 years their junior or senior are very strange IMO and I would NEVER do that.

I MEANT TO VOTE NO NO NO ! I can't answer this question enough nor can I avoid
it. Age is simply a number to me. It is the quality we're looking for in relationships not age
or the time we have with another person. If two people love eachother what can keep them apart ? Love breaks all the rules. If two people can't live without eachother they will find a way to be together no matter what sacrifice or changes they have to make.
Age pales in comparison to compatibility and the values two people live by.

It certainly can be and it is a bigger deal than I imagined that it might be. A few years difference, even 5 or 6 might not be a big deal. Just conversing on-line with younger people on forums like this points out how vastly different our experiences are and how hard it can be to establish common ground, even when we agree on many subjects. I can't imagine marrying somebody even 10 years younger than me and I suspect somebody 10 years older than me would feel the same about me. That assumes we wanted a committed relationship and not just a friendship with benefits.

Of course it does unless your both newts..One is going to always be older and get older sooner. Anything over 10 yrs is going to be trouble. My friend is 65 and still very active but her husband is 78 and starting to fall apart. She is very unhappy. She feels alone.
