Never been a member of Facebook, nor will I ever be. As I've said before, Facebook has already peaked (in my opinion) and more people are using sites like here at SH, instead of spending all their time on Facebook and Twitter.
I don't care for those sites because, unfortunately, I'm all too well aware of how many crimes have occurred due to what people have posted. Maybe if I didn't know, I would have joined, but I can't say for sure since I've known for a long time.

I'm unable to use facebook very much to begin with on account of time constraints due
to my struggling to make a living in this bad economy and the resulting rat race. I ain't no
medium or seer, mind you, but I can hardly forsee any increase or decrease in my use of
Facebook, a least in the imediate future.

You can get an addon for either Firefox or Chrome that disables the timeline, among other things, and shows you only what you want to see. no ads, spam, garbage...etc.

My "Circle of Friends" consists exclusively of family and close personal friends. Unless there is some "event", like a new child or grandchild born into the family, we mostly talk to each other.
I check FB about once a week.

There will always be people who hooked to facebook and that won't change but I feel Facebook is going to be around for a while and when the next big thing comes along, gradually that will take it's place. When that happens, well only time will tell. Everything has it's time.
