I would try to do it myself first but wouldn't hesitate to call the cops if I thought an action was imminent even if I knew doing so would end the frie friendship as I wouldn't be a real friend otherwise. To me this was a no-brainer.to answer.

Everyone has a different story. Usually if you talk to them and try to understand, you can persuade them not to do it.
