If you have dedicated your life to your God, should you lead by example or push your message onto people?

I am not a religious person, though I do believe in a higher power. In my opinion, every person has the right to believe or not believe as they wish. My life ran much more smoothly when I realized that some people simply will not see things as I do. That's fine with me! I relish differing ideas as it makes for great debates. What I don't get is people who cannot accept that I do not and never will think the way that they do. My concept of God is different from anyone else. It's my concept. I am pretty sure if God/Allah/Buddha/Kali/Zeus/Jehovah/Gaea or whoever you believe in does not need or want their message spread by shoving it down someone's throat.

“It is one of the ironies of the
ministry that the very man who works in God's name is often hardest put
to find time for God. The parents of Jesus lost Him at church, and they
were not the last ones to lose Him there.” -Vance Havner 1901

Actually, both questions are correct. Yes, we should lead by example, and yes, we are called and chosen to "spread the GOOD NEWS to all of the world." If I know the truth, should I keep it to myself, or let others in on it? If I know the truth, should I also walk in it, and offer it to others? If I know something about your family, and I tell you, "I know something about your mother that might devastate your family," would you want to know? If your boss comes to me and tells me, "so and so is either fired, or is going to get a promotion," would you want to know about it ahead of time so you can prepare? Or wait until the last moment when you "could have corrected your mistake and saved your job?"

Actually, people who don't know of God, don't they automatically go to heaven if they are good people? Or does God punish people for never hearing about God/Jesus (People born in a small village in China for example). So if you were to tell a person who never heard about God, that there was a God, then you'd be increasing their chance of going to hell.

Not so. Hayah Himself said "All shall know me, from the least to the greatest." All will have a chance to hear Him. All will be raised from the dead, if they didnt hear Him before they died, However, the Word also states "They have all heard." Dont be duped into thinking that these "little villages" have never heard God. Men in the Sahara Desert circumcise their males, which was ONLY a Hebrew tradition. So they even "heard the Word."

    You're talking nonsense.

I lived in China for ten years, and traveled to many of these little villages myself. None of them had heard of the Christian God (Unless they had been out of the village, but even then they didn't have a proper understand of it) they had their own old myths of different ancient Chinese Gods and Goddesses, or then they were simply without religion. They lived everyday as it is, they worked on farms from morning till sunset, they spend the night eating, drinking and smoking, they had no time for spiritual exploration.

Your God must've lied to you. Or then he was wrong. Which is it?

All have heard. Read Romans 1:

"Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves...

    28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

He has already showed them, but they did not want to "retain God in their conscience."

The Bible arrogantly claims that everyone happens to "know" this one God. When in reality (The real world) it isn't so. They just somehow had to "guess" that Jesus existed and that Yahweh is the real God and forget their own traditions and religions that have existed in their lives for centuries, and if they don't guess this, they end up suffering eternally.

It doesn't work like that, not in societies were people are living life or death from the moment they are born, many don't even get the chance to learn to read, so they couldn't even be able to read the Bible or understand this "God's word".

If you aren't born in the right part of the world, you obviously deserve to suffer. So much for justice.

"And YAH said, make mans image, and likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So YAH created man in his own image, in the image of YAH created he him; male and female created he them.

As a believer it is your job to tell the word of God to every one you come in contact with. It's not your job to continue to give it to them if they don't want it. You suppose to dust your feet off and move to the next person. The bible say that Jesus want return until this gospel of Jesus Christ has reach every soul on earth. Matthew 24:14. The devil has been trying to shut up the Christian voice for years.

Most grown adults in our world no longer react the same way to fear and force, in the old days when the world was more ignorant and there were only a few "elite" intellectuals, it was easy to force the word whatever religion with the use of fear and intimidation, people were less knowledgeable about the world and more likely to believe what they were told, especially if it was from authority.

These days it's usually only children that these tactics work on, if you want to show people how your religion or philosophy has improved your life and will improve theirs, then lead by example. Be kind, be smart, be brave, be the kind of person that others admire and respect, the kind of person that others would want to follow, only then will you be able to convince anyone that this lifestyle is good.

Being angry, hateful, greedy, bitter, willfully ignorant and violent, do not generally convince anyone to believe that anything good comes from your lifestyle or religion. Saying one thing and acting the other just doesn't work, people will see right through it.

I think she's one of the only people I know who turned towards a philosophy and actually gained positive outcomes from it that don't seem insanely superficial.

Dont be blind. "There is nothing new under the sun." We want to "think the world before us was ignorant," which puts us on a prideful pedestal, but the truth is, we have not changed since the Garden of Eden. We still partake of the same fruit Adam did because of ignorance.
  • Rave ACTS AP... 2012/06/09 13:43:51

The world before us was ignorant of a lot that we are now aware of. Just like the future generations will look back on us and know that we were ignorant compared to their knowledge. The past generation will always be more ignorant than the future one, that is due to discoveries, inventions and the work of science.

And I don't believe such a thing as the "Garden of Eden" ever happened, I don't see a reason to, but if it did... we surely have changed. In the past they thought the world was flat, they didn't understand the concept of gravity, they hadn't explored the lands, the sea or ever been in space. We have done that.
  • ACTS AP... Rave 2012/06/10 14:20:04

The world was never believed to be flat. Our modern English corrupted and misunderstood "old English." When they said the "ends of the earth," its referring to the "end of the world, last days, etc." And its very naive to believe that the next generation will be smarter than this one. A child is never brighter than his parent. No matter what.

I feel like people need to worry about themselves. You don't think something someone else is doing is right? Great, keep it to yourself, unless they ask for your opinion nobody really cares. Just live YOUR life doing what you think is right and you'll be fine. When God decides to send you to heaven or hell he's not gonna be like "Oh, this other person did something wrong, so, I'm sending you to hell." so don't worry about what they do because it doesn't affect you, so why do you care?

I am not comfortable trying to force my beliefs on someone else, I prefer to live my life in such a way that others will see how it works for me and maybe try it themselves. I have some knowledge of the Bible, taken Bible studies for 10 years now but I am afraid I wouldn't have the right answer to a question that may cause more harm than good!
