Everyone needs a bible and since it is the truth those who take it will learn what they've been missing out on.

I would have them recycled. It's no good wasting that much paper.

Oh goody! Someone that would rather trash something than give to folks who would LOVE to have it.

    Typical.

I'm sorry, can you read?? I specified that I would RECYCLE it which is not quite the same as TRASHING.

Tell me, if somehow YOU ended up with 100 copies of the QURAN would you go to the effort of distributing it to people who wanted it??

Also, anyone who I know that could possibly want a bible obviously already has a copy - or a few as it is in most religious households. My best friend is one of the most devout Catholics anyone will ever meet and while I respect that I still don't BELIEVE in Christianity so I certainly wouldn't go handing out Bibles to people just as you probably wouldn't hand out copies of the Quran.

I'd be as will to hand out Korans to folks that want 'em as I would extra Bibles.

I'm not like you. I don't feel books need to be burned or recycled because I don't happen to like what's inside. I merely DON'T read 'em.

See how that works? I do realize that folks may not have the means to purchase their own. I've never thrown a book away in my life.

I have never thrown away a book in my life either. I've taken them to Lifeline, or what you would call in America, Goodwill. But to be frank, I think recycling in this case is a much nobler cause. While I am not opposed to anyone who wishes to owning or reading the Bible, I do not feel favourably about Christianity in general, and as such I would consider taking them to Lifeline/Goodwill a symbol of my condonation - and I do not condone Christianity, I tolerate it.

    So. There it is.

    You dislike Christianity.

Do you feel the same about Islam?
  • Noobcake ★Calliope★ 2012/08/23 04:00:40
    Noobcake
Very much the same. I dislike most organised religions because they promote wrongdoing in the name of righteousness. That doesn't mean I dislike all those who practice them on principal, or condemn them for it, but I would not encourage one who was not already that way inclined by giving them a holy book of any kind.

    Oh I see.

What wrongness do you think Christianity espouses? I'm not talking extremists, who really aren't Christians if they go against the teachings of Christ as in hurting others. So what wrongness?

How many Christians are radicalized? Do you know the number?

Good luck finding one. Christian radicalization is barely a blip on the map. It's got to be less than a half of one percent to not warrant a study and whole bunch of atheist attention if it were more, I guarantee it.

Muslim radicals however, by their own reckoning is about 7 percent. I'd say much as this gentleman, those numbers are highly suspect. http://www.amnation.com/vfr/a...

But just say we go with the lower number - there are about 1.226 billion Muslims. At 7 percent radicalized - that's a HUGE number. Of that 1.226 billion, how many believe Shar'ia should be the law of the land? I have no idea, but that any do, scares the crap out of me.

Female circumcision, stoning, honor killings. That's ugly. And it isn't Christians doing it.

So tell me, just how frightful the Christians are again?

My action would depend on WHICH Christian Bible. There are dozens out there. The difference can be so large that one would not think that they are the same book. Every one has a group of rabid followers who claim to have "THE Christian Bible."

Some of the "Biblical" texts I have seen are so violently psychopathic, I would trash them instantly.

Some of Chick tracts are very good, while others I think were not thought through very well. A much better collection of tracts are from Way of the Master.
One of the keys is using the appropriate tract for the situation/recipient. However, the most important key is having an attitude of genuine love for one's fellow human and wanting to thus share the Good News (Gospel) with them rather than just seeing others as a conversion target.

Plenty of Churches could use them. Outreach programs. Homeless. Anyone that may enjoy the word or encouragement in time of trouble or rejoice for that matter.

You trying to get a nasty response in here? You got it.

Some people are pure idiots. PURE. They'd rather burn a book, a Christian book, than pass it on like a good person would, to someone that may want it. That's how stupid some people are. That same person would probably get their undies in a snarl if someone did it to the Koran, though.. You know it. Evangelical atheists are ugly, through and through.

How foolish and petty and absolutely stupid.

Thanks, my friend. I just can't understand those kind of people. How bitter and ugly spirited does someone have to be? I have NEVER felt so many folks' hate as I have here with the evangelical atheists. They seem so bitter and warped. I don't know. I try to ignore them. I wish they'd do me the same courtesy, Serenity.

Groups are always asking our church for leftover bibles. Distributing newly found bibles to those who would appreciate them, would be as easy as apple pie.

I find that horribly sad. You'd burn a book when that book would bring comfort to someone. That's ugly. You'd burn a book, a historical book (at the very least) that someone else cherishes, a whole bunch of folks cherish, because you are an atheist. I find some folks reprehensible, but I wouldn't burn their book. Amazing.

You folks really hate, don't you?
  • Bulbasa... ★Calliope★ 2012/08/20 06:35:36
    Bulbasaurus Rex.
No, because I find it to be a book of myths.

But guess what, I'm not serious! I would probably burn a few, but I would give some away, I know my dad's church could use new ones.
Please, you don't know me, don't assume things.
