The iconic Batmobile from the 1960s television show is set for the auction block this weekend. The midnight-black and fluorescent-red-pinstriped car that Adam West's Batman used to battle villains in Gotham will be up for grabs Saturday at a Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.

There is a reserve price for the car, but neither the auction house nor the car owner, famed car customizer George Barris, would confirm the lowest dollar amount they would accept. But auction organizers have indicated it's in the multimillion-dollar range.

If it were cheaper and I had the money, sure. If I had millions of dollars, I wouldn't spend it all on that. I'd probably give most of my money to charity.

I remember shows from the 50's. Maybe earlier.

The First Film Batmobile
Speaking of Batman, here is the first Batmobile on film. Now that is a crime fighting vehicle! The Hemmings blog did a little movie carspotting (or in this case truckspotting) to identify this Batmobile from the 1943 and 1949 serials as a 1 1/2 ton GM (either Chevrolet or GMC) cab-over-engine truck produced sometime between 1941-1947. It has a much more imposing screen presence than some flimsy sports coupe.
