If quitters never win, and winners never quit, who came up with, "Quit while you're ahead"?

A gambler, because if you're ahead of what you came in with by say $1000 shouldn't you quit before you start to lose money?

The quitter that didn't win came up with it. Ahead of what though? ahead of the other losers? or ahead of the bottom that the loser left behind which isn't quite winning either, but not completely lost?

thats true. lolziez. you'll never be ahead if you quit. but then again it does kinda make sense. i mean Justin Bieber (gags a little in my mouth because even mentioning his name is icky) is famous but he can still quit even though hes (dare i say it) ahead in fame. so i guess that phrase does apply for some people.

in a Joke.. This baby was born that was nothing but a head... It grew and when it got old enough to go to school, his mom would open the door and roll it to school, and the end of the day the teacher would roll it home... One night while in bed the head said "Dear god. please give me another part of my body". in the morning the head woke up with a big thumb growing out of its forhead.. Mom rolled it to school and it went along
Thump, thump, thump.. Moral to story.. Quit while you are a Head...

a quitter can't win, because he has quit...a winner will eventually lose unless he/she retires and that means they have quit..but if you quit while your ahead, means you have packed up and you are still a winner forever....well i know what i mean...

Its a gambling term. Meaning to quit while you are ahead money wise. Like the old gambler song. Know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, know when to run.

It means to quit at the top of your game.
