    Because it's software designed for microcomputers. Back in the day when Microsoft was founded, there were three classifications of computers; supercomputers (room-sized), minicomputers (refrigerator-sized) and microcomputers (modern computer sized). Microsoft focused on the microcomputer market, which has replaced most other computer types (except for server farms and the like).
